Help with shop and establishment registration in Surat for new shops, offices, and renewals.
Gumasta is what Surat shopkeepers call the shop and establishment certificate. It is issued under the Gujarat Shops and Establishments (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 2019, and it is often the first official proof of a firm’s name and address. Kagzi Documents helps new shops, offices, and godowns file that registration and keep the spelling consistent for later GST or bank work.
What the certificate proves
It shows the occupier, the trade name, the address, and the nature of the business as registered with the local authority. It does not replace GST, and it does not permit you to sell food. A restaurant still needs FSSAI. A bank that asks for evidence of firm name will often accept this certificate if the spelling matches.
Premises first
Carry the rent agreement or the ownership paper, and a light bill or property tax receipt of the same address. Aadhaar and PAN of the occupier should already use one spelling of the person’s name. Decide the shop name before you submit. Changing it later means a modification, not a fresh printout.
After the certificate arrives
Use the same name if you later take Udyam registration. Renew the Gumasta before it lapses. An expired certificate is a weak document the next time a bank or a labour inspector asks for it.
