Help transferring the Surat property tax bill into the current owner name.
After a sale, a gift, or a death in the family, the Surat Municipal Corporation property tax bill often stays in the old name. Locally that bill is called the vera bill. Banks, buyers, and sometimes the society ask for it in the current owner’s name. Kagzi Documents helps you put the deed and the old bill into one file for the corporation.
The sale deed does not rewrite the bill by itself
Registration at the sub-registrar proves the transfer of title. The municipal assessment is a different record, tracked by the tenement or property number on the existing bill. Until you apply, demand notices keep going to the previous owner.
Sale, gift, and death are different files
A registered sale deed or gift deed is the core paper for a purchase. If the owner has died, the corporation asks for the death certificate and the heirship papers it currently accepts, such as a will or a succession document. Do not attach only a rent agreement. That shows who lives there. It does not show who owns it.
Plan the electricity connection separately
DGVCL will not change its records because the vera bill changed, and the corporation will not change the vera bill because the light bill changed. New owners in Surat usually need both. Keep Aadhaar of the person named on the deed in the file, spelled the same way as the deed.
Before you apply
- Note the tenement number from the latest bill
- Check whether tax is outstanding
- Carry the original registered deed, not only a photocopy
