Help with Udyam registration in Surat. Udyog Aadhaar is no longer issued.
Udyog Aadhaar is no longer the way a business in India is registered as an MSME. From 1 July 2020 the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises has used Udyam Registration on udyamregistration.gov.in. Kagzi Documents still meets owners who ask for “Udyog Aadhaar”. We file the current Udyam certificate instead, and we say so clearly.
What the portal actually checks
The proprietor’s Aadhaar is verified with an OTP, and the enterprise PAN is mandatory. If those two names do not match, fix that before you start. The form then asks for the address, the bank account, the National Industrial Classification code, and the investment and turnover that decide whether you are micro, small, or medium. Those ceilings are the ones published on the portal that day.
GST and Gumasta are separate
If you already have GST, the portal can fetch those details from the PAN. A Gumasta certificate is still useful so the enterprise name and shop address are already official. Use one spelling across all three. When a bank asks for proof of the firm name, Udyam is one of the papers they may accept, but only if their letter does not insist on shop establishment or GST instead.
There is no government fee on the official portal
Registration on udyamregistration.gov.in is free. Keep the acknowledgement and the certificate PDF. An old Udyog Aadhaar printout from before 2020 is not a substitute if a tender asks for a valid Udyam number.
