Help transferring a DGVCL electricity connection in Surat into the current owner name.
An electricity bill in Surat is issued by Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Limited (DGVCL). After you buy a house, or when a landlord wants the tenant’s name on the bill for address proof, the connection has to be transferred. The sale deed alone does not do it. Kagzi Documents helps you prepare that DGVCL file.
Start from the bill in your hand
The consumer number on the latest bill is the connection you are transferring. Paid bills move faster than bills with arrears. Carry Aadhaar of the person who will become the consumer, and the ownership paper: usually the registered sale deed. If you are a tenant, the rent agreement and the owner’s consent replace the idea that you own the meter.
Property tax is a second application
The municipal vera bill does not update when DGVCL does. Buyers should plan both. A driving licence or passport application that lists this address should wait until the bill actually shows your name, if that bill is the proof you intend to use.
Common reasons the section office returns the papers
- The consumer number and the flat number do not match
- The deed is in one person’s name and the application is in a relative’s name
- Arrears are unpaid
- A tenant applies without the owner’s NOC
